| Description | The challenges we face today are very different from those of the 1970s, but they are no less critical. Our population will grow to over nine million by 2030. Much of our physical infrastructure is a century old and showing its age. Even as we have revitalized the five boroughs, the quality of our air, water, and land still suffer. And today we face a new threat with potentially severe implications: global climate change.
This Plan seeks to repel these threats and to extend the gains we’ve made over the last thirty years. It seeks active solutions rather than reactive fixes. The 1970s taught us that investing in our future is not a luxury, but an imperative. With that in mind, this Plan seeks to secure for our children a city that is even greater than the one we love today. |
