Project PurposeGov. Ritter released the state's first Climate Action Plan in November 2007 as a call to action to address global warming and the environmental challenges facing our state. The plan sets out strategies we can adopt to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent by 2020, and makes a shared commitment with other states and nations to even deeper reductions by 2050. Gov. Ritter established a Climate Advisory Panel to consider new ideas to incorporate into the Climate Action Plan in future years. The panel is utilizing Colorado vast intellectual resources and human capital to address the many challenges posed by climate change. The panel will respond to requests for review by the Governor on new opportunities for action, including review of potential climate adaptation strategies.
