Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) : Drought & Water Supply Assessment (DWSA)

PropertyValue
NameColorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) : Drought & Water Supply Assessment (DWSA)
Project PurposeThe Colorado Drought & Water Supply Assessment 2004 (DWSA) is the first statewide project to determine how prepared Colorado has been prepared for drought and identify measures that will better prepare us for the next drought. The DWSA was implemented to ascertain the opinions of Colorado’s large and small water users that store or divert water for delivery to other water users (e.g. reservoir and ditch companies, state water conservancy districts) and water users that “use” the water directly (e.g. farmers and ranchers, special districts, municipalities, industries). The Colorado Drought and Water Supply Update 2007 (CDWSU) was conducted to obtain new information on the current status of drought planning and preparedness, water conservation planning and programs, and water supply. This study was conducted for the Colorado Water Conservation Board with the assistance of the Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District. The research team included Aquacraft, Inc., National Research CenterInc. (NRC) and Aspen Media and Market Research. The following Drought & Water Supply Assessment Basin Summaries are available: Arkansas River, Colorado River Mainstem, Gunnison River, Dolores, San Juan Rivers, South Platte River, Rio Grande River, Yampa, White Rivers. This project operates in Colorado.
